A Present Help
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
This morning is the Homegoing service of a sister in Christ, Banita Reeves. As I think about preparing for the service my heart is heavy, and the Holy Spirit reminds me of Psalm 46:1; ““God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” He has made provision and shelter for us and when we are weak. He is strong. I am so thankful that He allowed me the opportunity to see and talk with her the day before he called her home. It was not a surprise to Him; I remember looking at her and noticing how her skin had a glow, really had a glow. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to tell her I loved her again. We were not really close friends. We were connected because of the praise team and her illness and me praying. I wonder why I had the opportunity to see her, was it to allow me to see the glow of His presence all over her. On the other hand, was it just to say one more time I loved you. Nothing happens by chance in the life of a believer for he said He orders the steps, her steps, my steps and your steps. So, in the mist of your/my storm, he is a very present help. I search the word "very" to understand why was it put before present, and it means; used to emphasize that something belongs to or is part of a particular person or thing; true; precise. The word presents mean currently or now. Jesus is a true and right now God, and it is part of who he is. He’s right there, right now when your heart is heavy, when you are in your storm, when you have lost your mother, daughter, sister, and a friend whatever that trouble may be. He is a VERY PRESENT help!
